The new look is simple and requires no effort at all. Silk grass in a black metal container with a few flowers and eggs makes a great Easter centerpiece. Just remove the eggs and it's ready for summer.

Spring has "officially arrived at Etown Florist" and to celebrate that we are having Spring Open House Thursday, March 3 from 8:00 AM until 8:00 PM, Friday, March 4 from 8:00AM to 8:00PM and Saturday, March 5 from 8:00AM until 5:00PM. There will be free design classes on Thursday and Friday night starting at 6:30PM. Refreshments will be served and there will be "special sales" each day. All spring arrangements will be 20% off.

We had such a great Valentine's Day. It was an honor to be able to serve our men and women overseas. They give so much for their country and we appreciate it. To be able to take flowers to their loved ones "back home" is a privilege. To all our men and women in the armed forces, we thank you and hope to continue serving you in whatever way we can.

Congratulations to Darla and Derreck
A southern celebration at the Jemison mansion in
Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Peacock feathers were the
inspiration for all the decor. Darla's bouquet was
stunning - wine mini calla lillies, royal blue delphinium,
green dendrobium orchids, thistle, and peacock feathers.
The matching boutinnniere of dendrobium orchids,
demi peacock feathers, and green hypericum berries,
bound in silver.

"The posse" poses for a fun photo on the front
porch of the Jemison mansion. With so many
friends lending support and best wishes, it
was a magnificent day.

Decorating the conservatory in
"Darla" style required unusual
touches. At the windows hung
curtains of irridescent beads.
The circular stair is festooned
with kiwi green mesh, accented with
turquoise ribbon and mercury
glass orbs. Fresh fuji mums,
bells of ireland, ginestra, and
peacock feathers added style
and pizazz.

The 4 parlors have 20' ceilings requiring tall
centerpieces. Darla loves mercury glass and
bling, which gave reflective light at night.
The kiwi green and royal blue flowers,
accented with peacock feathers, were
showy and distinctive.

Christmas design class

On thursday evening, November 12, Beth, Nancy, and Peggy
shared their knowledge of christmas decorating to a packed
house of eager christmas decorators. A step by step method of
professionally decorating a christmas tree had everyone ready to go
home and put up their tree.

Beth demonstrates a technique for creating a tree topper.

Peggy illustrates the garland technique for displaying
ornaments in a unique way. This is a great way to
refresh materials that you use every year and make
them look new.

Nancy shows the easy way to create pizazz with ribbon. Wire edge
ribbon is easy to shape, and is the most inexpensive decorating material.
She shared how "fluuf and bouf" your way to a dynamic look.
The designers taught design principles and class participants
toured the store to understand how those principles were used to
create christmas masterpieces.

Free design classes will be offered on Thursday, November 19, and December 3rd at 6:30 p.m.. The topics are: how to professionally decorate a christmas tree and how to create a dynamic front door. A beautiful outdoor wedding at home. It was hot, but a nice breeze was blowing, and the ceremony was so sweet that no one minded.

Janna and her maids are excited and ready to walk down the aisle. Janna carried jade roses, and the maids carried escimo roses.

Janna's grandmother and aunt own a cake shop and created a true work of art. With fondant calla lillies, edible pearls, and edible glitter, it was a feast for the eye and the tummy.

This spectacular design was created by Nancy Sullivan, as the centerpiece of the ceremony space. In the center of the altar table, with the woods as a back drop, it was gorgeous. A river cane frame braced the calla lillies, which were anchored in mood moss. Oriental lillies completed the design at the base.

IT IS DONE!!! Santa Claus and all his beautiful decorations have been wrestled into boxes and packed away. The cleaning has been done, and the store is full of wonderful fresh designs. If you are looking around your home or office and thinking "UGH!!!" after you have taken down all your beautiful holiday decorations you are not alone. Nancy Sullivan has created several gorgeous looks that can change the "UGH" to "OOH". For a nonseasonal and simple look, she designed centerpieces using orchids and foliages. They are very lifelike and come in an array of colors. Orchids compliment any decor and don't have to match your color scheme, since they look like blooming plants. Another idea is to perk up with green plants, either silk or real. A small 4" or 6" green plant in an interesting container, makes any table look inviting. The bulb plants arrived today and Beth created centerpieces in low flat baskets, combining tete a tete daffodils and hyacinths, accented with faux cherry blossom. The plants have just set bud, and will last for several weeks. It's fun to watch them bloom out, changing every day. The yellow tulips are not even showing color yet, so they will last particularly long. Clay or glass vessels, with wild vine branches and faux berries is a great way to get color without too springy a look. The turquoise berry group just inside the front door is very today. Each day for the next week, we will be filling the store with great designs that can give you a boost as we weather the winter.
